Manuals for E2 boxes on the whole are fairly poor and always have been but thats simply because nothing is concrete with these boxes depending on the image you are using at the time. have a look at the ViX manual on www.openvix.co.uk it is one of if not the most comprehensive manual your going to find, it's tailored to ViX users obviously but it will still help you find your way around things.

Be aware of fake images imitating ViX as these could be dangerous for your receiver and have no support from their producers.

In the wake of the recent terror attacks in Paris, the UK Prime Minister David Cameron has called for stronger legislation against secure forms of communication. Encryption wasn't specifically mentioned, instead the Conservative party leader reaffirmed his stance with a question: "Do we want to allow a means of communication between people which, even in extremis, with a signed warrant from the home secretary personally, we cannot read?" Cameron pressed forward with the argument that terrorists are using these protected methods of communication and that the UK government, with fresh legislation in 2016, should be able to monitor them. "Are we going to allow a means of communication where it simply isn't possible to do that? My answer to that is, no, we must not," he said.

The remarks suggest that Cameron wants to outlaw end-to-end encryption in the UK. If so, the British government could (depending on the detail of the legislation) effectively ban privacy-conscious messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage and Snapchat. That is, unless those companies change their services, or provide some sort of backdoor for authorities to read people's conversations. Dropping encryption altogether would, of course, make communications data less secure and lead to companies being more susceptible to cyber attacks. Although the UK is by no means the largest market, it could also discourage developers from developing privacy-focused services. More likely, however, is that it would push developers to move their operations outside of the UK, or simply pull their services in the region -- leaving them unaltered in other markets.

Any government restrictions on encryption could, in theory, affect other services too, such as secure web browsing and gaming. Even now, the UK has laws in place that require citizens to decrypt their personal data, or hand over decryption keys, should the government request access with a court order. Any refusal carries a two-year penalty, although if the request relates to national security, it can be increased to five.

The desire to create new legislation could also imply that the UK Prime Minister is keen to resurrect the Draft Communications Data Bill, commonly referred to as the Snooper's Charter. The bill would have required companies to retain basic data about their users' communications, such as the numbers people called and when they called them, for at least 12 months. It didn't include the "content" of the conversations themselves, but the Liberal Democrats have been clear about their ongoing opposition to the bill. Instead, the government (with the backing of all three major parties) rushed in a different piece of legislation called the Data Retention and Investigatory Powers Act, which emphasizes the metadata that companies need to retain by law. It's a stop-gap measure though -- the bill will be terminated in 2016, which is why Cameron wants to introduce new legislation.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg restated his opposition to the Snooper's Charter today, and, by extension, stood against Cameron's fresh proposals to clamp down on secure communications. Of course, for any of this to happen the Conservative party first needs to win the 2015 general election scheduled for May. Even then, Cameron's proposals will likely face the same level of opposition as the original Snooper's Charter. Effectively banning end-to-end encryption will likely anger a significant portion of the electorate, but the UK Prime Minister will be hoping the recent terror attacks can add weight to the argument that stronger surveillance powers are needed.

Slightly off topic but you have confused your self, this is not the Blue HD skin, the Blue HD skin is by Rossi2000 not the one you are referencing above.

A pub in Dundee is risking being fined for the illegal showing of live English Premier League football by using a foreign decoder. The Cask and Cork has also banned staff from ***, BT, the Premier League and the Football Association from entering its premises and put signs on its doors advising employees of the football and broadcasting companies not to set foot in the building, warning that legal action would be taken if the rule is broken.

Sean Reilly, regional manager of Park Leisure Dundee, the pub’s owner, denies the pub was breaking the law by using a different TV provider, having been assured the practice was legal by that provider.

A Premier League spokesman said: “The only legal way for pubs in the UK to screen live Premier League matches is with a *** Sports or BT Sport commercial subscription. Any other means, no matter what suppliers of foreign satellite systems state, is against the law, and publicans run the risk of prosecution as well as significant fines and costs as recent court cases have demonstrated. We are increasing the number of visits to Scottish licensed premises to ensure the law is not being broken and would urge any pubs or clubs using illegal foreign broadcasts of live Premier League football to stop doing so and purchase legitimate packages from *** Sports and BT Sport. Suppliers are also being targeted and we have had several successful prosecutions of late.”

In November 2014 four pubs in England were ordered by the High Court to each pay the Premier League costs for breaching copyright by making unauthorised broadcasts of Premier League football in their pubs.

A Premier League Spokesman said at the time that the actions were part of its largest-ever pub and supplier investigations programme. “We will continue to take action against commercial premises that breach our copyright by making unauthorised foreign broadcasts of Premier League football. Already this season we have conducted hundreds of pub visits and commenced action against dozens of publicans, with cost awards being made in our favour on a regular basis,” he advised.

Personally I agree it does smack of double standards to offer support for one clone but not another, but thats a decision for this forums administration and not me. regardless of that fact however I will never offer support for any user with a clone and will always point out where a manufacturer or seller is wrongly claiming ViX support for their illegal, counterfeit hardware.

I would not wipe my arse with the support on offer by those clowns, they are not interested in their customers once a sale has been made.

I would not wipe my arse with the support on offer by those clowns, they are not interested in their customers once a sale has been made.

Just goes to show how little they value customer support over at clown central HQ by the following post on their so called forum.

I have received a number of bug reports/bugs over the past few days (no big surprise with a new image release of course) however the vast majority of those are not actually image related bugs as such, simply setup issues which clearly shows there is a need for a bit more guidance with setup instructions to get the most out of things but likewise shows offering the bug report method is not really working as intended. For this reason I have decided to drop the bug report form in favor of introducing an FAQ section which hopefully will have the desired affect and help over come the most common setup issues. This is something I will work on over the next few weeks in my spare time and to try and maximise the benefits to the majority.

Of course I dare say there are some real bugs hidden in there and I can look at working on these over time, but for now the best way forward I believe will be going down the FAQ route and take things from there... It may well be a little while before you hear more about this as despite what some may think or say this is a personal project of mine which is all done in my own spare time and another reason why trying to trawl through no doubt well meaning but misplaced 'bug' reports just really wasn't working. The FAQs is something that's been in the back of my mind for a while now and I think now is the right time to look at beginning to introduce this over the next few weeks, I will be sure to let everyone know once I have something in place.

Clones are simply receivers which have been produced to imitate another, so the manufacturer does not have to spend any thing on research and development instead uses the hard work of others to coin it in.

Vu+ are not clones, they spend a lot of time and money on R&D and pay various licences where as clones just whack a sticker on their box claiming to have done the same.

Is there any way to get the Solo2 to record to another format, ie. mp4 or even avi? I would have thought the solo2 would have the hardware spec to be able for this real time conversion from .ts but I have not seen any plugin yet. Im sure there are a lot of people that would be interested in this feature. It would instantly quadruple the video storage capacity of the HDD. Again, I dont know for sure, but does the solo have to manipulate the Transport Stream when you are streaming live content? if so surely it would be possible to convert real time .ts.. Maybe somebody could explain if this is not possible.

    thanks

It's just not possible without direct support from the manufacturer without new added hardware and drivers.

Anyway how does Linux box software upgrade works. Can I do it via laptop?

I don't need to check any site, I have worked as a team member within ViX for almost 5 years. There is not now and never will be any form of ViX support for this or any other clone by Airdigital.

I'll put it in simpler terms for you. If it is not listed here www.openvix.co.uk then ViX dont support it.

SES’s Astra 2G satellite has been successfully launched on an ILS Proton Breeze M booster at 03:37:49 Baikonur time (22:37:49 CET and 16:37:49 EST on December 27th). After a nine-hour, 12-minute mission, the Breeze M upper stage of the Proton rocket successfully released the Astra 2G satellite into geostationary transfer orbit.

Astra 2G will be deployed at the 28.2/28.5 degrees orbital arc. The satellite was built for SES by Airbus Defence and Space. Based on the Eurostar E3000 platform, the spacecraft carries 62 Ku-band transponders, as well as four Ka-band transponders. The craft, which has a 15-year design lifetime, will enable the delivery of next generation broadcast and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Martin Halliwell, Chief Technology Officer of SES congratulated Airbus Defence and Space and ILS for the successful Astra 2G mission, a launch that marked the 24th SES satellite to be launched by ILS Proton, and the ninth Eurostar satellite in the SES fleet. “The Astra 2G satellite completes our significant replacement investments at a strategic orbital neighbourhood over Europe and provides 10 incremental transponders for expansion while cementing our unique co-positioning satellite back-up-scheme,” he advised.

According to Halliwell, the spacecraft includes the capability to connect West Africa to Europe via Ka-band. “In combination with Astra 2E and Astra 2F which were launched in September 2012 and 2013 respectively, Astra 2G is the culmination of our fleet renewal programme at the 28.2/28.5 degrees orbital arc. The new state-of-the-art SES satellites provide more focused and higher power to our broadcast customers, while the Ka-band on board supports the delivery of next-generation satellite broadband services as well as intercontinental connectivity between Africa and Europe,” he explained.
