How to flash a Dreambox DM820 HD

Flash a new image onto the Dreambox DM820 HD straight from your web browser using its built-in Rescue Mode.

The Dreambox DM820 HD has a built-in Rescue Mode that lets you flash a new image straight from your web browser — no extra software needed.

Flashing via Rescue Mode

  1. Turn on the power switch at the back of the DM820 HD.
  2. Press and hold the Power button on the front until the display shows "entering setup".
  3. Release the Power button — the DM820 is now in Rescue Mode.
  4. In your web browser, go to http://dm820" (without the quotes), or the IP address of the DM820 shown on its display.
  5. The DM820's Rescue Mode opens. Click Firmware upload.
  6. Click Select File, choose the image for the DM820, then click Select.
  7. Click Go! — the DM820 begins flashing.
  8. When flashing finishes, click Click here to reboot and wait for the DM820 to restart.

⚠️ Don't interrupt the flash. Once flashing starts, do not power the box down or disconnect it until the process completes — interrupting it can cause serious or permanent damage.
