  • Does the location of Oscam's config files depend on the image/hardware being used?

I installed it under OpenATV on a Technomate TM-NANO 2 and find oscam.conf in /usr/keys/oscam_Dmod/

in /tmp/.oscam/oscam.log there are references to

no suitable readers found that can be used for decoding!

Does this sound like a misconfiguration?

oscam has a web-interface where you can configure everything.

open oscam.conf and look for [webif]. Pay attention to the httpport and user or pass if these values are there.

login to the web-interface in a browser like how i showed you with CCcam ~ http://ip.address.of.box:httpport

if you are prompted for a user or pass use what`s defined in [webif]

Click the Files tab > enter your details then save > restart oscam for changes to take effect

If you prefer to enter your details manually look for the start script which maps where you should add the oscam configs

    FTP to /etc > open oscam.emu > look for a similar line startcam = /usr/bin/oscam -c /usr/keys (in this case configs are in usr/keys)

Changed the title of the thread from “Oscam config files” to “Does the location of Oscam's config files depend on the image/hardware being used?”.
  • Are you using oscam_Dmod or oscam ?

    Oscam normally etc/tuxbox/config

I Have deleted Oscam (and CCcam) with the idea of starting from scratch....

    Now (on OpenATV) I enter

MENU -> Main Menu > Plugins -> Green Button (Download plugins) -> softcams

    The following oscams are offered:-

    oscam-atv

    oscam-atv-emu

    oscam-atv-ymod

    oscam-depponmod

    oscam-ymod-openatv

How do I know which to pick?

  • Hello. On different oscam-emu versions it has put the files in /etc/tuxbox/config.
That is where ver. 11494 I'm using points to.
Other versions had pointed to /usr/keys.
Some versions switch the webif ports. Mine is currently http://<box IP>:8888.
    Confusing at times, yes.

    Edit:
If you look in oscam.conf you will find the webif port.
Then again as I've seen (thanks Jens) bon't expect updating just the binary to work with the previous config's location.

  • Doesn't OpenATV still uses the /usr/keys/ folder?

Yes it does, but I was wondering if the plugin installed them in the wrong place.

I'm going to try a different version.

The configuration folder is depend on the oscam installer - by configuration from the oscam installer (argument -c in oscam startup command-line), for example in the OpenATV image for oscam_atv is used /usr/keys/oscam folder, but in some other Oscam installers, for OpenPLi as example is there a default configuration folder set to /etc/tuxbox/config/oscam .

When oscam is running, you can check the config folder via command-line via Shell: top -c | grep oscam . You will see the command line running Oscam, which will also have the -c argument to specify the path to the config directory.

Oscam configuration directory can also be found in Oscam Webif. Open a web-page in your web-browser: http://box_IP_address:8888 and go to:

    "Files" -> "oscam.version"

You may install the Oscam as self (manualy). Most Enigma images starts the softcam as default from here:

    (1) via run-level bash-script: /etc/init.d/softcam {start|stop|reload}

    ...or...

    (2) /etc/<softcam_name>.emu file(s)

    - softcam will be controlled with the help of Softcam Panel plugin

    - this .emu file need to be activated via the Enigma GUI / MENU (in Softcam Panel)

The binary oscam or other softcams are usually placed in the folder /usr/bin (with execute rights, for example as oscam: chmod +x /usr/bin/oscam).

  • OSCam is multi-protocol client/server Softcam ...... all-in-one ;-).

(with support for more protocols - cccam, newcamd, camd, cs357x, cs378x)

Unfortunately, configuring OSCam requires some experience. However, you can still use foreign configurations for your specific hardware and for your satellite card that you can find on the internet.

Here is the OSCam configuration manual: http://www.streamboard.tv/wiki/OSCam/en

  • New plugin extension for download some softcam packages (new feed source) not working ? Install Softcam Feed in OpenATV - OpenATV SoftCam Feed . Then restart the set top box and the Softcams item will appear in PLUGIN MENU. Then install some Oscam via PLUGIN MENU. Then you may need to activate Oscam additionally in the Softcam Panels (this will show up after installing a Softcam). If it fails to detect the hardware in this Softcams Feed extension, then search the internet for your chipset / architecture on your device. Depending on the architecture, download and install the appropriate Oscam.

    //// EDIT :

It is probably a mipsel architecture.

  • Thanks for the pointer, I have it working now, but as always am baffled by the wide array of available softcams...

I think I chose OSCam-trunk 1.20 11572(IPv4only) and it seems to work, but I've no idea if I picked the right one. Also I seem to have over 20 readers. No idea what they are for and if I can delete most of them.

Go to the thread linked by S3n0 OpenATV SoftCam Feed at post nr 5 you can read the differences between the Oscams

  • Hello,

    I have a dualboot Zgemma H7S with Openatv 6.5 and Pure2 6.5.

In Openatv I'm using an oscam-emu and the config files are located in /etc/tuxboot/config/oscam-emu and in

Pure2 6.5 the config files are located in /etc/tuxboot/config.

Would it be possible to configure both to use the configuration? all in /config.

If not, which files do I have to adjust to use the same configuration in /config and /config/oscam-emu?

    thank you very much

    tom

You could try edit the cam start script, for pure2 this is located /usr/script/cam

File permissions must be correct too.
