has anyone tried to install XBMC on one of these and run it all off that?

Also. Master G. In your first post you stated in the pic / diagrams it will run Android 4, however further down in the Tech Spec you said "Android 2.3 in dual-boot system". Are you able to confirm which it runs...and if it is 2.3 will it get an update?

Hi, I'm getting myself familiar with Spark again, but I'm having one problem that I cannot resolve.

On some channels I'm getting no audio at all through HDMI, which tends to be the HD channels. I've tried mucking about with the red - green - yellow - blue buttons but I cannot find the settings. Is there a global 'system' setting that I can select that transmits sound via HDMI and at the same time will force narration off (no idea why narration would be default ON, given that most people are not partially sighted and have no need for it!).

    Thanks in advance

    Hi guys,

I'm not new the forum and I'm not new to E2. What I am thinking about doing up is buying a Vu+ Duo and wanted a few peoples thoughts. I'm thinking about performance, I read the specs and I wonder if it is capable or not.

    Can it...

Record one HD channel and watch another HD channel without glitching
Stream 1080p over a gigabit network.
Fast browsing menus - instant response from remote commands.

I'm currently using an Amiko Alien2 box. E2 it can just about do the above, but it isn't great or realiable. Spark can do it, but the limited plugins and horrific EPG leave it almost useless....

    Looking forward to comments

I'm using HDMU build 10847 and after watching a HD channel for about 7 - 8 mins I then find that the picture starts to judder or becomes distorted. For example, any movement on the screen seems to have a delay added, so watching a football match and a player then running across the pitch becomes impossible. If I change channel and then go back to the same channel it takes another 7 - 8 mins.

Anyone had the same any suggestions? I'm thinking about changing image...

Additional information - The same thing happens on FreeSat HD channels, for which I don't need a sly card and as it takes 7 - 8 mins to start happening it cannot be my TV's refresh / frequency.

    Hi Hobbysatter,

Best of luck moving over to E2. I too have an Amiko box and after a while Spark was just too sh*t. Also, it is important to select a decent E2 image to 1, get the most out of the box and 2, to help you get started and setup. My personal favourite is http://linuxsat-support.com/am…kup_image-v0-4-5-28e.html. FAST, reliable, excellent plugins and a really good remote map.

You MUST run Spark version 1.2.51_E2 - it will not boot properly otherwise.
    1. Boot into Spark - Load Spark version .51.E2
    2. Reboot the STB
    3. Copy the required E2 build on to a USB stick
    4. Place this into the back of the STB
    5. Go to Plugins, turn on the E2Upgrade.s plugin, by selecting 'OK'
    6. Press the Red Button on the remote to launch the upgrade module
    7. Confirm the path that you have copied the files to on the USB stick
    8. Press the Red Button again to confirm upgrading to E2 - let the update happen (note if it fails at this point with a Kernel error you have copied the files into the wrong location)
    9. You don't get a message to say success - update just kind of stops.
    10. Exit the plugins
    11. Go into System
    12. Select 'Basic setting'
    13. Select in the right hand options 'Default Settings'
    14. Within that the bottom setting is 'Boot to E2'

    15. Sit back and enjoy....

    Really hope this helps.

I've noticed over the past few weeks that everytime I try to use the 1Channel plugin on my Amiko Alien2 STB, running HDMU E2, it returns the A-Z options, however whenever I select any of them it returns a blank list. There are no error messages and it doesn't crash...it is as if the website has moved (which it has not).

Does anyone have an idea as to why this might be and what I can do to sort it??

I've had my Amiko Alien2 box for about 4 months and after a number of combinations of differing builds, CCCam, OSCam, plugins, skins, CoolEPG...even flurting with Spark for a while.... I have settled on what I think is the best I can get out of the system - GOOD!

What I want to do it back it up, so if I get a problem I can rollout out the current image again in 2 mins - I don't mean the simple config files, but I want to produce the e2jffs2 and uImage. How do I do this?? I cannot see anything in E2.

    Thanks in advance

Hi, I am currently using the "Satstation_members_HDMU_backup_image v0.4.5 For 28E" E2 build. I'm getting an "initializing storage device... Error: Timeout elapsed, sorry" when I try to initialize a drive. The disk is a 16GB Kingston DataTraveler, it has worked on other builds.

Any suggestions on how to get the drive initialized.

I dont know this receiver but on openpli images you can install oscam directly from the images feeds, go to plugins/download plugins/softcams.

Well it wasn't as straight forward as i'd hope. I'm using a cam called 'Alternative Softcam'....

I see a number of people have read the thread without comment, possibly wanting to know, so have been given the following commands on another forum - if it helps.

    mount -t cifs -o rw,username=user,password=pass //192.168.0.2/tv /stb_folder

rw or ro = write or read only access

    user = username on NAS/PC
    pass = password on NAS/PC

192.168.1.2/tv = ip and share name of NAS/PC making sure user and pass have relevant permissions

stb_folder = local folder on STB where you want it mounted (mkdir to create it first)

I am using the OpenPli-N***_Hrnigma, for my Amiko Alien2. I have two Alien2's so I would rather record off to my NAS....so files / recordings are available to both machines. However, in this image the 'mount manager' does not work and after crashing once disappears!

Is there any way to force a mount to <NAS IP>\<Share> using command line?

Hi, I am using the HRnigma 2 OpenPli N*** build (very fast, seems robust and Oscam aside I'd recommend). This image details that it has Oscam installed as a plugin. Yet, I cannot seem to find it 'Softcam Manager' plugin seems to suggest that there is no Oscam installed.

Can anyone advise on what to do? or where to an SH4 E2 Oscam plugin

Just one point, on the Spark side of the receiver there is a cccam plugin but I don't know if it works. Is spark able to support cccam

CCCam is a hybrid version for Spark, I used it on Spark, but the limitation is that with CCCam you can ONLY watch OR record 1 programme at a time - this is not the case with OSCam.
