You have more chance of hitting the lottery than finding a sports feed on 28.2° east, as stated above until Vu+ release new drivers with some form of blind scan update then yes the Vu Solo4K can lock onto feed channels if you know the frequency already.

For Feed Hunting you really do need a motorised dish system of some kind

My first choice would be the LG OLED as there is nothing to compare picture quality wise at this moment, although for nearly £3500 its a hefty price tag, next would be either a Samsung 8000 or 9000 series again quite a price tag.

If money is no object like a brand new car price then Panasonic have just entered the OLD market with a 65" and by all accounts it blows everything else out of the water including the LG's but at nearly £7500 you have to have deep pockets

the information i recieved was the correct distance to sit from your/our tv's is 2 1/2 times the screen size so my 42 incher lol equates to 105 inches works for me.

just to add i'm not enamoured with these LED LCD screens, the one i have atm is in another room i cant have a tv in the living room just yet, also i was plasmaman had a Kuro then when that played up a Panasonic near as i can tell theres nothing in LED's ans LCD's that even come close to plasmas....................i think when the time does come i'll be looking for a 55 inch OLED.

    regards: canthackit

I could not agree more about the LED/LCD efforts for 4K like you i came from plasma the same again my last Pioneer was an 08 series which had fantastic picture quality and since then had to stick to Samsung Plasma which is quite close but just not the same.

And again totally agree with the Plasma to OLED as that is what the majority of A/V users agree on if you come from Plasma viewing then nothing else will do apart from OLED, but for a decent 4K OLED 55" your talking £2000 and the 65" is near 3K.

as for the viewing distances there are a few so called pro calcs out there that will give you an idea

    Code

Press 8281 on the remote followed by the password 0000 switch any active connections you may have to OFF and then press the blue button on the remote to Reset all connections this will clear any details in the current config

but theres nothing to watch in 4k

you can look at those sat 4k demos which are on a loop
you can download the odd 4k clip of something
you can say to who is ever in the room
    look at that picture quality

    then what ??

There are currently 2 full time channels on 19.2 east FTA 4K pointless unless you speak German, But that is far from the reason i bought mine come the summer and the Euro's start there will be 4K feeds of the games as there was on the champions league last year and before that the world cup. Thats what i bought mine for

    1. i dont look at 4K demo loops they are fine for testing purposes when you buy it and thats about it.
    2. I dont download clips its a satellite receiver first and foremost and will never replace a decent media player such as an Nvidia Shield TV which i use for such purposes.
    3. I dont ask peoples opinion in the room about picture quality of 4K loops, my opinion is what matters to me and so it should for everyone else's personal opinion.

I heard the exact same arguments many years ago when we first got HD with the BBC HD channel on satellite guess what everything being said here now about 4K was said then about HD and look what happened.

As i stated above the Picture quality in 1080i from this receiver is probably one of the better ones in my eyes anyway and the 4K is stunning if viewed on a Calibrated 4K TV display and not set to standard settings.

According to the official 4K TV distances measurements to actually see any benefit over 1080p on a 4K tv 42" in size you would have to literally be sat at just over 0.6m away, as mentioned above you need Big screen size to appreciate the difference.

Just to give you some idea i sit around 1.5m away from a 65" UHD and you can clearly see the difference, i could possibly have got away with a 55" but i upgraded from a 60" so would have been a downgrade.

I also own a Solo 4K and have Zero problems with the Picture quality IMHO it is by far the best of the E2 receivers for picture quality, either 4K or 1080i

I love the Technomates they are solidly built the only bug bear problem for me is lack of image support and Driver updates apart from that i have no problems and have had my fair share of TM linux receivers.

As MasterG said there are better alternatives and for you budget perhaps a Vu Solo2 would suit maybe slightly over but its a very popular Twin tuner receiver and can take an internal 2.5" hard drive, so no problems recording

The nearest you will get for something like TSmedia on the 5402 M3 is the IPTV function, there should already be a channel list installed with the current phantom patch but you can also update these online straight from the box.

Goto - Menu - Entertainment - TMonline - press ok you will then be greeted with different options for firmware, Channel lists and IPTV list choose the IPTV list and download straight to the box.

The IPTV lists are free and are updated by xxxxxxsathobby with working channels and sometimes the latest movies, the box holds around 2000 IPTV channels so they could be anywhere in the list

Just for more input i have used the Harmony series of remotes for the last ten years my last purchase was the harmony one around 5 years ago and its still going strong this controls my A/V Amp, Nvidia Shield TV, Vu+ Solo 4K and other devices with ease. Personally i never use the supplied remote with any new product i buy as the Harmony takes less than a minute to setup with its online database of remote codes

your location is ideal for these 2 satellites you are directly in the main Ku band beam for the BSS and Nordic beams which means a TD78 is ample enough to receive all beams at full strength near enough, As you cannot rotate the dish for skew then this has to be applied via the LNB's.

Also it appears that the TD duoblock is a fixed type which does not allow for any type of adjustment to either raise or lower the LNB's so a compromise on the signal would have to be made but due to your location and signal strength of the satellites in question the loss will be negligible

To get some constructive answers to your question a few more details are required the main one being which country do you live in as the TD78 for 4.8 degrees east unless your on the north east coat of england will only get you the european beam and the Nordic beams will be very tight margins indeed.

Secondly you bought a 6 degree block for around a 4 degree seperation, i have just seen you have posted links for the Triax.dk website so assuming your already in one of the nordic regions
